What the demo listing tells you
- It is a separate, free Steam app called Emberville Demo (app 5355880), tied to the full game (app 2295170).
- Steam lists the demo for Windows only; the full game also lists Linux.
- Listed features: single-player, Steam Cloud, Save Anytime, adjustable difficulty and adjustable text size.
- Minimum specs match the full game: 64-bit Windows 10, an Intel Core i5 3.2 GHz, 4 GB RAM and 4 GB of storage. The full table is in the FAQ.
- The store page does not describe what the demo contains, and does not say whether demo saves carry over to Early Access.
What the September preview build showed
Press previews in September 2026 played the prologue, which IGN and Tails by the Foxfire describe as roughly the first hour: character creation, the first biome of the Vitromotus and the arrival in Emberville. Whether the Next Fest demo is that same build has not been said.
- Four weapon types were playable: sword, bow, staff and knuckles, each with its own mastery tree (skill tables).
- The prologue ends with a boss fight against a large spider matriarch (revealed bosses).
- Dying revives you close to where you fell; Tails by the Foxfire noticed no lost items or broken gear.
- Ore, trees and plants could be gathered and raw meat cooked at campfires, but the gathering and crafting mastery trees showed “Coming Soon” and town building was not in the build.
- The preview build had no native controller support. Steam now lists full controller support for the full game; the demo listing does not mention it.
Live Steam data
The Steam widget opens the store page for wishlisting. From October 19, when the demo becomes playable, a SteamDB chart of the demo’s concurrent players appears below it.
